The camp is ideal for meetings, retreats, planning sessions, hiking, fishing, nature walks, bird watching, and church camps, as well as school and family camps. ERUMC is a great spot for cross country skiing, winter survival camp, environmental education, hunting education, and recharging ones spiritual batteries.
Nestled among 100 year old spruce and hemlock trees, Eagle River United Methodist Camp located in southeast Alaska sets the mood for restful retreats or stimulating outings. Located on Glacier Highway approximately at the 27.5 mile, just over the Eagle River Bridge and just before Eagle Beach State Recreation Area, the forty-eight acre camp is easily accessible and offers a quiet and peaceful setting for group or family events.
Within a five mile radius of the camp the topography goes from glacier ice to the salt water of the Lynn Canal making it an excellent location for outdoor camping, education and environmental studies. Marked trails lead to high adventure in wildlife and botanical study. Adjacent to the camp are the facilities at Eagle Beach and the trails to Herbert and Eagle Glaciers.
The Maier Cabin and the Gotschall Cabin are year round cabins with fully equipped kitchens. The Maier sleeps approximately fifteen campers on the first floor plus a small loft area. The Gotschall sleeps approximately twenty campers in two separate loft areas. A bunk bed is located on the first floor. The year round Treat Cabin, a former houseboat, has a kitchenette, dining area, and a full size bed and an enclosed loft. Also available are four winterized cabins for skiers, hikers, and bikers which sleep ten campers in bunk beds. Five summer cabins (unheated), three are the original cabins built at ERUMC, which sleep eight campers each.
The Lodge is available for approximately 110+ campers/students/guests with a fully equipped commercial kitchen for your chef to enjoy. A covered, open air pavilion, with picnic tables and a small fireplace, is available for rainy days (with lights and electric). A fully heated bathhouse plus a laundry room is also available.
